I can’t even begin to tell you my level of obsession with Stranger Things! The score brings back nostalgia of some of my favorite 70’s & 80’s sci-fi & horror films that revolutionized electronic music like Alien, Clockwork Orange, Nightmare on Elm Street, & Halloween.  Since the first season I have wanted to do something with the Stranger Things theme.

For this video, I decided to recreate the backdrop with the alphabet and Christmas lights. It was honestly hard to choose what to focus on for this video because Stranger Things gave me so much creative content to work with. With only $20 I was able to recreate a pretty realistic looking backdrop. I included in the beginning portion an intro clip of how I put it all together!

The editing for this video was pretty simple! It was mostly a lot of color correction to make sure my lights didn’t get lost with the background. Pro Tip: Don’t ever match your gloveset to your background! It makes everything blend together and we want the lights to pop as much as possible. Thats why I chose an all white set with Inovas to give my set some texture as well.

For the audio I took a snippet from a scene in season one where Mike finds Eleven in the closet crying and added some delay, echo and reverb on it to give it that feeling of how things sounded in The Upside Down or in a parallel universe. The rest of the track is called “The Upside Down” by LIHO. There are plenty of Stranger Things edits and remixes on the internet but I really liked the feeling of triumph and hope this one gives. It personifies the Christmas lights to me and the energy bouncing through them. Thank you for watching my Stranger Things Lightshow!
